Opencluster technical overview
Our opencluster is made up of the following hardware:
- 3 Enterasys ER16 10-gigabit
switches
- 7 “opladev” nodes (opladev01-07): HP Dual RX2600
servers with Itanium-2
processors @ 900 MHz with 4 GB memory and two 36 GB SCSI disks. All
have on-board 1 Gbit Ethernet
connectivity.
- 32 “oplapro” nodes (oplapro01-32): HP dual RX2600
servers with Itanium-2
processors @ 1 GHz with 2 GB memory and two 73 GB SCSI disks. All have
on-board 1 Gbit Ethernet
connectivity. Four servers have an Intel 10 Gbit
Ethernet PCI-X card. Preliminary
results of our 10 Gbit testing.
- IBM’s “StorageTank”
iSCSI storage system with 8 200i disk subsystems
(each with 3.6 TB of disk space)
Our software is:
- Red Hat Linux Advanced Workstation 2.1
(beta) with a 2.4.20 kernel
- OpenAFS 1.2.7
- GNU FORTRAN/C/C++ compilers (2.96 as
default, 3.2 in addition)
- Intel
FORTRAN/C/C++ compilers (version 7)
- Open Research Compilers
(FORTRAN/C/C++, version 2)
